update from africa

ya know what?
that whole journey story was true. uh-huh, true. and i really do live in africa now. which makes having a blog seem really ridiculous. since most of the time i live hours and hours away from electricity. and people who have ever used the internet. let alone heard of blogs.
but it's good to maintain contact with the outside world once in a while via the computers in the capital city. plus i just like to hear myself talk. not that i don't get enough of that when i'm tuning out while people talk around me in languages i don't really understand. you know, you catch a word here and there but after a while it's not worth the concentration of listening anymore. and then you have a lot of time to think about whatever comes up. all sorts of things come up.
once i thought about how if i decide that i really do want to have a child of my very own someday but i never find anyone that i want to marry and have children with, i can still rig up a system whereby i give birth. in which case all of my friends become potential donors (since artificial, complex fertility processes cost far too much for anyone as cheap as me). which makes me more judgemental of my friends in general. so far, i think that nice teeth and a good medical history are very important factors in donor selection.
